Knife friendly pants/shorts?

Hello

This might be a really stupid question but I got to ask. Does anyone make a pair of pants or shorts that are knife friendly? I have North Face shorts, Kuhl shorts and some others that are not easy on the wallet. It seems like it doesn’t take long to get that pocket clip fray and then a hole. Maybe I should change my shorts? (Pun intended). I know some knives are easier on the pockets than others. What is a guy to do?? Any advice?

You know, I've been carrying a clipped knife since 6th grade or so. 25 years now? Shit...
Anyway, i've never had a pair of pants show this wear. I see it in lots of 'tuff bruh' type pics in ads and on insta, and I dont get it.. Literally never got it- not on jeans, bdus, khaki shorts, anything.. I wear Carhartt logger dungarees for work pants, for years, have worn them clear off myself, back pockets falling off, bottoms shredded, tool pockets pretty used up.. no knife wear on thr rfp at all, even after repairing the pocket itself on some jeans.

I dont get it.

I reckon I can totally recommend carhartt work pants tho. The canvas ones are real nice, not as thick as the denim and maybe tougher. They shed briars great and are cut roomy for plenty of movement.

I just wear Columbia Silver Ridge convertible pants, which have deep front pockets.

I can fit a Taxi Wallet and the largest folders that I own, including a CRKT C/K Folder, CRKT Foresight and a Spyderco K2, in the right front pocket w/no problem. Even w/the light nylon ballistic fabric, I get little wear on the pocket corner.

When the weather is hot, I just zip the leg lowers off and they become shorts.

I was starting to use the 5.11 tactical bike (?!?) shorts last summer. They are comfy, they have a deep wide pocket but they are not so much reinforced. A standard clip was fine, a Cold Steel clip was annoying to use and I foresee a faster wear and tear with waved cutting implements. I tend to believe that “knife friendly” pants are more a marketing spin than anything else. Besides... I like the wear and tear knives do on pockets corners :) It shows that you belong to the club.

My wife bought me 2 pairs of these for Christmas. They are pretty awesome! Pants that become shorts when you want. Love it!
I also only wear cargo shorts so my other goodies (flashlight, chapstick, etc) go in the side pockets.

I wear Dickies work pants almost exclusively. It takes a couple years to form a hole, and I carry a waved folder.

Looks like i'm in The Club then.:thumbsup: 3 months of use on my $30 dollar Carhart work shorts. This might explain a couple of missing knives though.

These are my $70 Kuhl shorts. Less than a years worth of wear.

With the Kuhl stuff I find the denim ones are the best lasting. The more technical fabrics get shredded quick.

I have some Arcteryx pants with 2 dedicated reiniforced knife pockets but they kind of make me look like a spaceman so they're only for special occasions. I don't think they make these specific ones right now but they have other similar models. Drac Pants.

I got curious about this a while back and looked around. I think some of the 5.11 pants have a reinforced spot for a knife on the RFP, and the Wrangler Riggs Workwear pants have a leather reinforcement on the RFP for a tape measure. I carry on the left side, so none of this works for me anyway.

the 511's do have a reinforced part on their front pockets for knife carry.I love going into the 511 store here in Columbus and has cost me alot of $$$$ between boots, pants and outerwear.lol

+1 for the 5.11 rip stop pants. I generally wear those when not working. They are essentially tough, thin cargo pants with reinforced knees, and *very* deep back pockets.
More than enough space for a knife, flashlight, keys, wallet, phone, and whatever else you need to carry around.

I just buy whatever's on sale. Throw it in the gutta, and go buy anotha.

My pockets do take wear from folders, but the rest of the pants wear out too. In a year or so they tend to look like the intentionally "distressed" ones all the douchebags buy.

...only without all the bullshit crosses, fleur de lis, and glitter.

yeah antdog I agree those fancy designer jeans with crosses and crap on them are kinda of douchebaggy and feminine. lol
