So Richard J sent me a knife(pretty awesome guy BTW) because he wanted me to experience what sharp is. Ok, so I got the knife felt it, it felt sharp but not freaky sharp to my fingertips, Boy, was I mistaken. I was wiping the bevel(it's a chonvex) with a folded rag and wow! it went through the rag and cut me good.

Richard J, you can get a sharp edge for dang sure! :D

Here's the knife.

Ouch.

I've had several convos with Richard, great guy to talk to. Sharp is his specialty.

That must be one of those paper wheel sharpened edges. :D
Richard IS a good guy !
Nice cut. ;)

RichardJ can really put an edge on a blade. I am not suprised that happened. Too bad he only makes a few knives a year. Yours looks sweet. I hope he has one like that available when I have funds available.

Great work by richard right there!

I just got a bunch of knifes back that I had him reprofile, hes great!

Richard is the man when it comes to sharp knives! He s done many knives for me! All came back scary sharp!!!!

Nice little blade there. Richard is one of the good ones for sure.

I played extensively with one of his larger knives made from an old farm implement. He has an interesting heat treating process that is fairly old school, and he seems to have it dialed. His knives hold an edge quite well.

It's nice knife for sure and it does hold it's edge quite well. I've really used it too. I'm working mostly on building my house these days and I cut things a lot at the site. Richard J also sent me some abrasive belt and an egg carton to strop it with. Most important of all is the advice on how to strop it with the belt and keep it sharp.

Thanks Richard J.

I've had several phone conversations with Richard. He's a really nice guy. He's sharpened a couple of knives for me.

he had a nice blade made from a metal disc from a cultivator. i believe it was something in the neighborhood of 1055. i hacked away at some dry hardwood with it and that blade still shaved hair from my arms

+1. He is working on a little project for me, and we have talked on the phone a few times. Really knows his stuff!

Yep - he's done a few Emerson regrinds for me too and they come back very polished sharp. They're not "toothy" sharp - its the kind of sharp that cuts when you're not careful :)
