discuss your different stages of knife collecting. i started with SAKs, then pocket slippies, a crazy tactical stage, a short stint with autos, khukris, swords, now mostly customs. here's some of my recent support for our fellow knife makers hooking me up during my old-school mountain man phase :D:D

footnote: i also bought 2 large Siegles this week...so i'm kinda in a crossover stage! :D:D:D:thumbup:

first smallerhunting fixed blades, then big bowies, now only production tactical folders (the non-G.I. JOE variety)

I have not been interested in knives long enough to have my collection actually change a whole lot but my focus and enthusiasm for different blade styles has really fluctuated over the last year or so. I started just being worried about function ie. as long as it was sharp and cut stuff I was happy. Then I developed an appreciation for the quality of materials and workmanship and thats when things started to get interesting.....my focus has evolved more or less like this -

Esee/RAT > Choppers > Busse > Strider > Fixed blades > tacticals > fixed blade tactical customs

My ultimate goal right now (my focus) is to have a decent variety of quality production and custom blades (from edc to neckers all the way up to choppers) that can handle heavy duty use...cheers!

When I first started collecting in earnest it was mainly production commenrative knives, most of which were folders. But then I sold most of these and begin buying what can best be termed as "tactical folders". This included production and custom, along with auto's. Guess that was 15 years ago that the TF bug hit and I'm still going strong in that area!:D
