I have a spare Victorinox Sentry that I'll give away to anyone needing it for a first knife.

It is a used knife, but far from abused. Tiny, weak hands may have a problem opening it safely as the single blade in these models is pretty stiff.

It is NOT the Boy Scout model.

US shipping is included. If you live outside of the US, you will need to pay shipping.

Today is Thursday the 7th. We'll let this run until Monday the 11th.

Tell me why your candidate is the best choice. Whichever story comes closest to bringing a tear to my jaded eye will win the knife.

Okay, I'll give it a try, but take this all with a grain of salt, as some of it has been enhanced to raise the level of emotional manipulation.

My second son is a very sensitive soul. He also has a passioned desire for sharp objects. He received his first cut from a knife when he was 2.5 years old, having sneaked a tiny slipjoint out of my dresser junk bowl. Whenever a new knife arrives at our house, he's the only one of my 4 sons who sits through my thorough investigation and examination of said new cutlery. I've shown him my collection on multiple occassions and have taught him the basics about knife mechanics, going over the many different types of locks and opening mechanisms. He is always eager to help in the kitchen and has been allowed to use the Shun cutlery on a several occasions, with many warnings about proper technique and handling. Being the quiet sensitive type, he is easily plagued by hurtful words from his peers, and tends toward low self esteem. He is happiest when helping others learn, and has been singled out by several teachers for his calm, insightful and patient way of imparting wisdom to those classmates who will allow him. I try to encourage him to find his strengths and nurture them, and be aware of his weaknesses and not dwell on them. He has recently expressed an interest in joining the Boy Scouts, and I'm very proud of him for wanting to do that, dispite his fear of new situations. His older brother has been in for just over 2-years, but he has never really desired his own knife and has been happy to borrow one of mine for campouts. As my second son begins outfitting himself, I wish to supply him with a knife equal to the task, and he is loathe to take one of "Daddy's special knives" for his own, as he can appreciate my affliction. I would be willing to lend him any of my knives which would be appropriate, but he wishes for one of his own. This excellent offering of generosity would be a perfect introduction to knife ownership for him, and a great way to demonstrate the goodness that is out there in the world awaiting him.

Okay, I ended up being truthful, and made myself tear up. :o

Thanks for the chance.

No other stories? No one's kid choked a raging pit bull with their bare hands and deserves a reward?

My daughter got her first knife years ago, so this is not an entry. It is a very cool giveaway though.

I think the current entry deserves it more than anyone I know. This is not an entry ;)

No, but I can choke a raging pitbull with my bare hands if there is one promised... :p I think it should go to the third post.

Daniel, the knife is yours!

PM me the address and I'll get it in the mail.
