Knife going to Afghanistan.

I have a customer who ordered a sword from me in December 2010 with an estimated delivery in June 2011. In February 2011 he was Re activated and scheduled for deployment in May. During our discussions about his sword we also talked about him getting a knife made. After he told me about his deployment to Afghanistan I decided make him a knife like one we talked about, and send it to Afghanistan as a way to thank him for his service.

Here is the knife going outTuesday next week .
Can anyone suggest other things I can put in the box that would be appreciated over there?
Blade is CPM 3V
Guard is Titanium
Handle is ray skin with cord wrap

Dan, wow, awesome knife and what a cool thing to do. That design looks extremely well suited for a deployment. A solid, grippy handle that will stay secure in wet or gloved hands, a protective guard that won't get in the way, and a nice beefy grind with a thin, sharp edge. Just about perfect.

I might suggest wrapping it in some cloth and then box it and seal it as best you can with some good tape.

Hey Dan
I would think he would need a sharpening stone or device if he is going to use that fine looking blade you made him.
Very nice of you.
Dan

Knife is awesome. You may laugh, however, I have sent a few packages to friends deployed, Their number 1 request. A decent pillow and pillow cases. Inexpensive and ships easy. Just my 2 cents.

nice lookin knife. Love your logo too.

Very nice gesture, and a fantastic looking knife!

My brothers regularly request baby wipes. Apparently they are able to barter for almost anything else they need with that alone.

just took a look at the recent Blade mag and saw this gorilla for myself. Dan Keffler is a big, hairy, scary, powerhouse dude. Silverback, no doubt.

Actual US Copenhagen is like gold as is Goldbond. I asked a friend who is over there if there is anything he wants or needs and he only asked for those two things.

Thanks for all your kind replies.

I just got am email confirming that the knife and care package arrived and was well received.
