Is the sure-grip type knife the way to go if you will plan on using your knife as opposed to looking at it for show? I like the looks of the rosewood but don't want to slip and cut my hand either. If you're going to use your knife in the field (skinning, whatever) is it best to get good grips as opposed to what looks better?

Thanks.

If you plan on using your knife you want the best materials, the "look" of the knife is secondary...at the same time, who wants an ugly knife? :o

I would say yes, but also bear in mind that a knife can be too grippy. Imagine if you will a knife with 60 grit sandpaper handles. Not sandpapered with 60 grit wet & dry or something, but handles with 60 grit sandpaper glued to them. Very grippy, and probably very painful. Somewhere along the scale from teflon to sandpaper would be a personal balance, grippy enough to work, but not enough to tear your hand apart.
