Knife Handle Accessory

Greetings.

I am attempting to shape my very first hidden tang handle. While shaping I went too deep on the bottom side and now the tang metal is showing in a spot. I’d like to salvage the handle and think that perhaps a strip of material along that area could hide the metal. Any suggestion for a material and where I may find it.
Thank you in advance.

I will add that having some exposed tang at the base of the handle isn't necessarily a bad thing and it can be used as a pommel or a scraper for a ferrocerium rod. The Morakniv Garberg is an example of this. It is deliberately designed with a piece of the tang sticking out from the bottom of the handle. This exposed section has utility.
