I have a variety of 1 ½” to 2” thick pieces of wood that I would like to have stabilized for use for knife scales. Any recommendation as to what size I should cut this wood down to before sending it off to be stabilized. I would primarily use these for full tang knife scales but would want some large enough to be used for hidden tang handlesI was thinking 1” X 1 ½” X 5” blocks.

i would leave it 1-1/2" - 2" thick by 1-1/2 by 5 or 5-1/4.The thicker pieces stabilize better with less warping. you can always cut it down after stabilizing.
