I know lots of guys get on here wanting to know where to buy aftermarket handle slabs for BK and ESEE.

Why isn't the market more competitive? Are there some kind of intellectual Property Rights that go along with selling handles specific to certain knives?

Seems like the market may not be large enough to make it financially suitable to go into production for them imho. Basically if you want them, read up and make some. Thats what i did and now i got the bug and doing lots of custom stuff now. Always been the person that couldnt leave something alone. ESEE with stabilised wood handles are awesome!

I agree, some of the mods I've seen out of exotic wood are off the hook. I've been getting the bug to make some out of cocobolo but I'm waiting for the tools.

Since you have been doing this a little...what woods have you found work the best? What do you like working with for synthetic materials?

I've been working some Osage Orange for a couple days, seems like it'll be fairly durable and it tools easily. I did some Wenge too, much more dense and tools much harder. nice stuff though.

Thanks for the tips. I'll bet some Black Walnut would look pretty sweet! Now I just need to find some.
