Knife Handle Proportions

I have recently admired photographs of the Fallkniven Hunter (H1), however, the handle proportions at 4.3 inches seem claustrophobic to me.

I have this problem with more than one manufacturer's knives.
They seem a little small to me.

I think I have hands on the large side but well within the range of normal.

Does anyone else feel "crowded" by knife handles, and has anyone done a review on the H1?

If one takes care of the means, the end will take care of itself.

I don't mind a compact package for light work, but if I'm going to be swinging a blade around or chopping with it, I need a good 5" handle, sticking out maybe 1/2" in front and in back of my hand. An added grip factor would be a bird's-head or dropped tail of some sort on the handle, or that flared pommel on some Finnish knives. The Becker handle is ideal. I don't care what the material is. My hands aren't so delicate that I need padding on a grip; I like a more positive feel.

yes that is a good observation.... 4.5" is about as short as a knife handle should be unless it is a folder.
