I'm making a recurve blade, full tang, any i cant decied on what wood to
use. I like black wood but also ebony. Are they any good? do they last
a long time?. I would like to have an all black handle thats not man made
stuff like the mercita (spell check). Any help would be good ty

There are a few types of Ebony , some more colorful than others. Very dense hardwood.
I got a bunch sittin around allready sized for scales , nice and dark with very very light amber streaks if you hold it in the light the right way. If you want I'll send you a pair if you pm me your address.

do you have any web sites where i might get some? the African blackwood
i mean. Or do youm have any pics of the wood on your knives?

wear your respirator. Some woods produce toxic dust. Stabilized woods put off some nasty stuff too. When working with handle materials (micarta, wood, bone etc) always use respiration and be well ventilated.

Use african blackwood. It is technically a rosewood from what I hear. All I know is that is it quite easy to work with. Ebony, on the other hand, is
"fragile" like snakewood and ironwood. Brittle as all get out and the bane of every newbie's knifemaking existence...:D
