New here and am looking to get a new folder! I want something I can have for years. Looking to spend around $300/$350. I'm kinda hard on my knives. I want something I can carry everyday and use. I spend a lot of time hunting, so a knife that would be good for dressing elk,deer,ducks,pheasants...ect. Also the normal day to day work on a farm.I have large hands. Been looking at these knives.... Spyderco Tuff, ZT 0561, Strider SMF ( think the blade is too thick for field dressing) , and the Microtech Select Fire. What do you guys recommend??

Thanks for the help!

Ya say yer hard on yer knives, what knives have ya had how hard were ya on 'em and what is it about yer current EDCs that falls short of yer expectations, that info with yer price point will get ya a more accurate recomendations.

BTW welcome to the forum, $300-$350 can buy ya a lotta choices, which one is best will depend more on yer responses than yer budget.

My EDC knives has been Emerson knives. Had a Commander... wore it out over the years. Didn't like the blade shape. Also have a Emerson Roadhouse, which was sent back the 1st weak due to the liner lock not working. And the tanto point is pretty useless to me. I have been using a Benchmade Bone collector knife now. It's ok... but just want something new and a tad larger. I like Stider's warranty a lot. But It looks like a sharpened pry bar. Need something that can slice good. Thanks for the help.

Can't go wrong with ZT.

Are you able to carry a fixed blade? If so, that opens up a whole bunch more options and you will have a VERY hard time breaking or wearing out one of those even with hard use.

I think that if you're open to splitting your budget between two knives you'll have better luck. Something like a ZT 0300 for the hard use and something with a thinner grind like a leek or PM2 for the field dressing duties would be my ideal. Getting one of the ZT blems would keep you within your budget even with buying a second knife.

Thanks for all the help. Just not a fan of the recurve blades. Was useless on my Commander. Think I'm going to try out the Microtech Select fire! Hope it holds up!
