Hey y’all,
I’m new so please don’t judge. I got a knife from my grandpa after he pasted about 5 years ago. It’s and Appalachian Trail knife with a glass breaker and seatbelt cutter. It also has a black blade and frame with wood inlays. I just wanted to know more about it. What’s the steel?, How much did it cost?, etc.

Thank y’all for the help.

The steel is likely 420HC, or the Chinese equivalent. The price was not high.
I've read posts that they are decently built knife for that price point.

I got a pair of Appalachian Trail liner-locks in a tin from Moe's a while back; they're perfectly good knives. They're not very old in Grandfather years.

You might find some nuggets if you type "Appalachian Trail knives" in the search box and go through the results.
