Hey guys, I know there are lots of threads like this but I have as much info as I can muster so bear with me. I'm looking to get a new knife for my EDC, I want it to be under 200 with a 3-3.5' blade, preferably s30v. I have always had folders but would be willing to go with a fixed/slippy combo. Any lock will do and any make, I like wood handles but that would be only if i went with the small fixed blade option. Also I'm in B.C Canada so knife laws are a bit odd here. Thanks in advance for the advice everybody.

Here's what I carry every day:

Gerber Freeman folder in S30V (available only from Cabela's), 3.5" blade, liner lock, and hand-checkered cocobolo scales. $100. The only possible drawback is the weight - 6.8 ounces if I remember correctly. This is definitely a belt knife. Fortunately, it comes with a very sturdy leather sheath.

You could do a lot worse.

nice knife samael, to the others I'm not a big fan of those products in spydercos line. Though when the paramilitary 2 comes out that may be a different story. any ideas in the fixed/slipy arena?

I'm actually much more of a fixed-blade person than a folder person, but most everything I like is either outside your blade length range or outside your price range (or both). Maybe someone else will have some ideas.

What about the Buck vantage pro or whatever it is? I think that's S30v for around $50. My personal preference would be the Sage1.

Funny, I just recommended the Vantage Pro to a friend about an hour ago. Very good value.

thanks for the sugestions guys. I have a buck vantage, pretty nice knife I just don't like the opening method, feels uncomfortable.

I like your sig Samael..aint that the truth.

Thanks for the reminder. There's a cold one in the fridge calling my name now.:D
