I have looked all over trying to identify the maker for two knives in my father-in-law's collection.
One is a letter opener in Damascus with Di in script.
I added a close up of the makers mark.

The other is a large fixed blade fire dept commemorative with curled firehouse at base. It has 1918-1993 and fire dept logos with horse drawn rig in possible bronze. Makers name is engraved signature looks to be Norman Rutliff with 335 under it (can't figure out last name).
Will try to post pics as I know it's a shot in the dark anyway. Tried to add as links.
Thanks for any help.

The Ram knife is a Kershaw knife, it was part of a North American Wildlife series. Norm Cutliff is the artist. I remember these from around 1992/1993. I haven't seen the Fire Dept one before, but in the 90's there were commemoratives for all types of things, asking Kershaw would be best on that one. It was just marked Kershaw in a little black stamp on the other side, easy to miss or remove.

Google Kershaw Ram Bowie Knife, and you'll see more.

Just a thought, but it's my understanding that some fire departments use the code "335" for "return home" or "return to station", and it is also sometimes used ceremoniously in reference to the death or retirement of a fire fighter.

Perhaps the knife with the fire fighter motif was a one-off commemorating the death or retirement of a fire fighter, and perhaps the name engraved above it is that person. It might even be a copy of their signature.
