G'day all,

I picked up this knife at a swap meet today, at first glance it looks like an FDICK, but the "K" is more of a "H".

It's F Dick, they used a stylized K on older knives that might look like a H sometimes.

I thought so, I've just never seen the K look like that, all the images I saw online looked more like a traditional K. Thanks guys

It's a butcher's knife, as you can tell by the shape and length of the blade. What sparked my curiosity was I just haven't seen the K in the logo look like that before. I also own a vintage FDICK steel and it has a pronounced K, just like everything else I've seen online. Ah well, should restore nicely either way.

Ok cool, I know I had seen the manufacturer name before in conjunction with kitchen\food prep, but wasn't sure if that's what this particular knife would have been used for.

Hard to tell the size but I think that was called a "lamb splitter".--KV

Here's a few progress pics, still heaps of work to do though, and haven't even touched the handle yet.

Some deeper pitting in a few spots which I think I'll leave, but for a knife of this age, it's in surprisingly great shape. It was able to regain it's edge with only a quick pass on a sharpening steel. The steel is very hard, trying to remove scratches, and angled scratches from being sharpened on steels over the years, is very difficult.

Oh, and thanks for the offer, mqqn, but I think my girl wouldn't appreciate a t-shirt like that!!!:)
