I'm not really sure. I think maybe the older ones weren't marked, but it looks like the newer ones are marked. And apparently they DO come with serrations. My memory is failing me.......

Second image shows the branding. The drop point blades are pretty uncommon, which, combined with the serrations, makes me hesitant to declare your knife a real Severtech. On the positive side though, I've never known Severtech knives to be counterfeited.

This movie is what the Spartan model was named after. Val Kilmer uses the drop point model in the movie. Most Severtechs have tanto blades.

I doubt that there is enough traffic in them to establish a value.

You can go to the Severtech website to see what they go for new, then lower the amount you could sell yours for from that number based on condition of the knife. I haven't looked at them in years, but 20 or so years ago they were in the $400-$500 range new. I've no idea what the maker asks for them now.

Def. a Severtech Spartan. Though those serrations are interesting. Severtechs were originally made by a firefighter named Aaron Riley, out of Arizona. He unexpectedly passed away, and his Father, David Riley, picked up the knife business via his machine shop, Spectra Machining. I believe Dave will still make a knife, but it's by request, only. Send him the pics, he may be able to ID the knife's timeframe a bit further.

Thanks for the info!
Any idea on the value of a user?

A lot. Even used, it's a lot. Years back when they were in production the regular ones were $250-300, and double for the Spartan model. I'm sure very few were actually made.

I didn't know he had died. Dang.

A few years back I did some research on what a new Spartan would cost to have made. I found a few postings online from people who had ordered some, and I have a fuzzy memory of a price guide on the Severtech Facebook page that I came across in a Google search. As I recall, a new Spartan can cost around $700-$800.

I remember when they were $500. I don't recall them ever being lower than that. The tanto version has always been somewhat less than the Spartan.

I have no idea what a used one would go for. Speaking for myself, those huge serrations would be a major turn-off, and I imagine there are others who would feel the same. Too bad, as I'm confident that it would be rather desirable if it had a normal blade. I can't help but wonder what the owner was thinking. When do you ever see serrations that big on a folding knife? Oh well, to each their own.

If anyone can point me in the direction of David Riley I'd appreciate it. I have access to US and Afghan veterans who can revive this business... but the Riley family needs to benefit.

I have one of the seven used in the movie. it's a fully functional knife, drilled for a clip, though didn't come with one. The blade is polished, not beadblasted, and it's unmarked. I've tried to narrow down where in the movie my sample was used, but it's tough to decipher between the knives. I do know a few scenes towards the end of the movie, in the airplane hanger, used fixed blade style prop knife.
