Knife Identification help

Any of the folks out there care to put a name to this style knife?

I had not seen one before and was wondering what the purpose was. It is listed as a
chain mail piercing design from India. I have my doubts on the listed intent as most of the thrusting/piercing knives I have seen have a much more in line point. And I would
think that for mail you would want a much finer tip to begin the initial penetration. This knife looks to be more of a slashing style. Is this a standard Indian/Regional design.

Thanks for posting this pix. All our forumites enjoy them. I know one of our resident experts will be able to name this knife and probably give us a good idea of when it was made. I can't help on this one.
