hey guys first off thanks for the help. i recenly got a knife from my boss that he was going to thow out, so anyways i have looked for a while trying to find if it is anything special. anyways the makings on the blade are:
lamplough cutlery solingen on one side and N56B on the other. thanks again guys fof your help

Sounds like a contract knife, made by one of the many cutlery makers in Solingen, Germany, the Lamplough Cutlery is likely the "house" name they were sold under.

PS, Welcome to bladeforums!

petey,
Can you please post a picture and all the physical specifications of the piece?. That will help nail down the actual item. Somewhat recently I believe Lamplough Cutlery had there factory in Canada and were famous for there quality kitchen cutlery, but you may have an older vintage item, you never know.

Fixed blade or slip joint? Length of blade and length overall? Handle material?

ps <> Yes, Welcome..:)

Can you post a pic of the subject? From what you have described it sounds like one that was done as a "jobber" for another company by a cutlery in solingen.
