Benchmade fixed blade on the left side of blade has benchmade usa and above it has the bm butterfly symbol with the word "balisong"
in the center of symbol. on the other side of blade says ELISHEWITZ and below it says "first production run, 1 of 1000". this knife looks the same as the model 140 nimravus in the bm 2000 catalog, can someone out there tell me about this knife. thank you.

I think I am right saying that the only fixed blades Benchmade has ever made are the Nimravus and the smaller Nimravus Cub. The steel is either ATS 34 or M-2, either partially serrated or plain edge. All have black coated blades. The handle material is G-10.

Generally when Benchmade introduces a new model they will make a very small pre- production run which are often numbered individually. The first production run knives are just what they say. Some models are individually numbered (345/1000), some models are simply marked 1 of 1000 as yours is. I have no idea how they decide which models get individual numbers.

Hope this helps.

Benchmade has done other fixed-blades in the past, but Mr. Elishewitz's name on the blade pretty much pegs this as one of the Nimravus family.

I have a Benchmade Bushmaster large fixed bladed straight Kukri type. Probably made before they moved production facilities?
