I am trying to find info about a knife that I saw on TV the other day and I thought that you guys could help me. The knife is used in the kitchen to mince things. It is shaped like a half circle with a two handles, one on each side, and is used with a rocking motion. I would like to know what this kind of knife is called, who makes them, and where I can get one.

It's an eskimo knife called, I believe an ULU (pronounced "ooloo" I believe). Many are antiques and heirlooms. I'm sure there are some modern manufacturers, but I don't know of any specific sources.

Is it a Mezzaluna?

Try a cooking store, do a search, or I found it here:

Ahh, yes, and the mezzaluna, which is the Italian version of the same idea. You can probably find more "mezzalunas" than "Ulus". I did find a source for the Ulu at greatnorthernproducts.com. The Ulus may be handmade by the great northern natives in Alaska. Try either a search on mezzaluna or Ulu.
