Which, BTW is a brilliant movie.

Actually, the book is even better, esp. because the message is much more clear.

Anyway, there are two prominent knife shots that I'd think you would all be interested in.

I couldn't identify the knife used in the first shot. It was some kind of fixed blade fighter, with a ring for index finger. Pretty wicked looking little knife. I couldn't identify it. Anyone?

The second was a spyderco, I believe a Police model with full serrations. The great thing is that the actor who opens the knife does it two handed. Did he not see the little 'O'. I wonder sometimes.

I'm an actor and proud to say that I know how to use knives (bali song and otherwise), so if you ever see me in a movie, you won't make fun of me for that.

so. any ideas about that first knife, revisions on the second...

Can't identify the first, but agree with you on the second. My wife even commented about the two hand opening.

Kinetic film, Fincher always surprises.

I made similar comments about two-handed opening of one-hander folding knives in movies. In Jennifer 8 a Police model is opened two-handed. In Stir of Echoes a Bemchmade Spike is likewise opened.

Actually, it may be best they're opened two-handed in the movies. Someone commented (was it James Mattis?) in the Spyderco forum that opening a Spyderco in the movies like it's meant to be opened might cause a big stir in law-making circles to ban the knives. It may be silly, but it's happened before. Automatics, bali-songs, nunchaku, etc., were banned in large part due to their portrayal in the cinema.

Yep. That was me. It's bad enough that when our favorite knives show up in the movies, they show up as Evil Weapons. If a one-hand folder must be a sinister prop, it's a blessing of sorts if it shows up as a sinister two-handed prop.

Seeing knives as Evil Weapons is, by the way, a cultural prejudice that goes back centuries.
