As most people would know, the knife in the hat was drawn a little while ago...
well i was fated to deliver my blade into the hands of the person who graciously ran the whole thing
Chiro75.

well, here is the blade that i made for the drawing.
(pic is a tiny bit big)

http://home.iprimus.com.au/waterway/DarkWoods/knifehat.jpg

the whole of the blade is forged from a single bar of damascus that i made with use of my rolling mill (the first billet to come from it in fact)
convex ground, with a diff. heat treating.
the wood is stabalized jarrah burl
and you can just about see that the handle is file worked all the way around.
and though you cant really see it in this pic, there is a thumb ramp on the spine of the blade too.
OAL 7 3/4"
blade 3 1/2"

i would have to agree with the nerves that come from having to send your blade to another maker.
so i hope that he likes it
:p
either way, this is for sure a style of blade that i will be doing again soon.

it was a fun little thing to be a part of, thats for sure
now i just have to be patient enough to wait for a blade to make it to me.
:)

as always, comments welcome.

Another absolutely fantastic knife. I love the blade shape and tha damascus is outstanding. I love the simplicity of the pattern in that steel.

I didn't want to look at this so I would be surprised, but I couldn't stay away! Looks great and I can't wait to see it in person! Wild knife, D! As far as sending a knife to another "maker" I wouldn't worry about it. I am far from a knifemaker myself!

Great knife D. I know you were having motor problems with the new machine I can't wait to see what comes out under full power. The pattern is great. I think there was a thread a while ago about how many layers. I thing you have well and trully illustrated that a few or many does not matter. All pattern can look great. The knife and the pattern set each other off.

Look forward to the next one.

Holly cow!!!! That is spectacular. And now I'm feeling a tad humbled with my entry. Why did you go and do that?:D Very nice indeed. Clint
