I don’t know the name of it. It appears to be an indian culinary knife. The west has a folding knife with a similar blade called a fruit sampling knife.

Thanks for the reply! Much appreciated :) I was hoping on finding the knife the guy is using so any more comments are welcome!

I typed in melon tester after seeing a video on youtube and i think thats what it is! Comments welcome though a si may be wrong.

Looks like a local blade on a handle, something he made, did not watch long enough to see if it was a folder or fixed.

New user, you are right, my error and I edited my post after I realized I jumped too soon. It is early Friday morning and I am up too late. Sorry.

Its ok, I'm still up in and its 6:35! I've fallen into the worst sleep cycle ever, always happens this time of year for osme reason but i usually get out of it after a week or two and it's approaching the end. Thanks for the input i just hope i get someone who knows what it is! The curiosity is killing me! Plus i think it looks quite elegant and simplistic in its design. Looks shar aswell see whow easily it goes through the watermelons.

I kinda doubt he woudl have the knowhow, time, money etc... to make a makeshift knife. I reckon he got it somehwere or was passed down or something... Looks too well made aswell...

Btw thanks for all the fast replies much appreciated! Love forums for this very reason, helpful and informative. Best of all, convenient! Nevertheless, still don't know what the heck the knife is :(

FWIW, the large knife that cut the watermelon, looks like it was nothing more than a large hacksaw blade set into a handle or taped at the bottom. Both blades were very thin and flexible, like you would find on a hacksaw. The large one in fact had a hole in the tip that such a blade would have.
And since the "blade" he was using to make the chocolate and strawberry shakes was no blade at all, but the handle of a spoon, it would stand to reason that all the knives were home made or improvised. Never doubt the ability of people to improvise, re-purpose, and create useful items from less than nothing.

I just think it looks slightly too good to be homemade by some poor indian guy. Porbably can buy those types of knives for next to nothing anyway so why go to the toruble and probs been using it forever. It deosnt look like a hacksaw blade imo.

Thanks for you input though.

Also, the fact that other knives he used liek the big machete looking knife deosnt look homemad eimo so leads me to think the one im intersted in isnt hoemmade either. The metal part which connects the blade to the handle looks too well made also.

I see where your coming from though :)

Kind of looking like i may never know :( I will be patient and hopefull :) Surely someone knows what the hell it is! Any indian here?

One thing is certain, he could cut up the pieces quickly and not cut himself, so he knows how to make those things, must have some practice at it. Was he missing any fingers in the video? :p

Lol don't think so. It was just sharp. Anyone can sharpen a knife at the end of the day...
