Hi, I'm new here. I have a Buck knife with the # 650 on the blade. So far, I believe it is a Knighthawk? It has a black, non-serrated blade, black & green rubberized handle, and a nylon sheath. I am looking for more info on it, such as when it was made, how much it is worth, and mainly at which angle it should be sharpened. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum Arthur. You will find a date code following the model #. https://www.buckknives.com/about/behind-the-blade/how-old-is-my-knife/

Another member may have exacts on blade angle.
Thank you, I see from the marking my knife is from 2001 and has the rarer green/black handle. More research has taught me it depends on the intended use as to what angle to set. I was more asking what the original angle would have been but I guess thats relative also. Matthew, thanks for answering.

Dan,

The diference is that we have totally changed the way we edge our knives. We shoot for an angle of about 30 degrees included. We have found this to be a great all around angle. Another big change is how we remove the burr after our edging process. We have switched to a hard leather wheel. This wheel does not "roll over" the edge and therefore the knife ends up extremely sharp.
The new sharpening process actually leaves some of the micro serrations from the edging operation. Those serrations definetely make the knife sharper. The edge may look a little rougher but it is worth it.

I hope this helps, and thank you Tangus for the comments!

I am not an expert, but I would assume your knife would have the Edge 2000.

Glad to help get you started. Lots of research material is available just by using the search option as well as the Buck Collectors website.

The Nighthawk models where sharpened at 22°-26° per side.
