Just purchased this policy, and at half the price of a Kious!

Dimensions are 60x30x23 inches & 560 lbs, rated at 30 minutes in a fire. IMHO 0% possibility for burglary. And no longer have to dig for knives!! (Well, not as deep :) )

Long overdue to protect the investment...

You're halfway there...

Now, do as I did; dead bolt the front door to the house, dead bolt the door to your bedroom, and dead bolt the door to your walk-in closet (reinforced diamond plate works well here).

Use differently keyed locks...

Then, bolt the safe to your concrete foundation, put lead bricks across the bottom 3 inches of the safe, add a few cases of ammo, and then put a sign on the front that says 'Caution, contains explosives' (and mean that part...)

Get to know your neighbors well, and buy a bulldog...'Hoorah'

Mel

p.s. 'Paranoia, it's just a state of mind...' ;)

p.p.s. Nice safe, nice collection, you've done well!

Chefget. One thing I would personally do. You have a bunch of your knives loose, laying next to each other. If someone were to break into your house and find the safe, while they might not be able to get into it, they might be able to rock it back and fourth and/or tip it over, in which case all the loose knives would be damaged. So, i would put ALL of the knives in some sort of padded case and then, a would be burgular can throw the safe down the freakin stairs and everything inside will still be safe and protected. But i can definitely picture a burgular trying to gain enterance to the safe by tipping it over. Just my opinion.

Rock it back and fourth, heck if it's not bolted to the floor they just might take the whole safe some place where they might have the time to peel it open! I have a few safes and i highly recommend you bolt your safe to the floor, after all i wouldn't want to make it easy for any thief!

Have you guys ever tried to move a fireproof safe? Even one 1/2 that size is heavy as hell! Let alone when it's full of knives/guns.

I like the idea of the "explosives" warning sign though :)

I moved my safes a few times and it's easy if you know what your doing, i don't want to post how here and yes mine are very heavy.

I agree, theres no good reason to not bolt the safe to the floor. Safes can be moved, even heavy ones, after all, it made it to your house, didnt it? :)

I agree that there's no good reason not to bolt it to the floor, but the likelihood that someone is going to break into your house and cart away your gun safe full of gear is pretty unrealistic.

My gun safe... bolted to the floor and wall behind it. ;)

But to say one is less than effective because it's not bolted down is not necessarily fair either.

Most criminals would go for the easy targets and be in and out in under 5 minutes. If someone was going in knowing what they're looking for, had the time and the tools, then bolting it down won't stop them anyways.

And how do we know its *not* bolted to the floor :D :D

It's all a matter of degree...though the margin of safety, with the addition of a safe, is increased exponentially; with the addition of bolts, alarms, etc is increased only geometrically.

YMMV :)

Hi Michael :).., absolutely great safe. Those are really nice.., and teriffically made! I had one and sold it..., but not because I didn't like it..., just circumstances..., and a need for more room.

For those who think the rocking and rolling would be a problem..., anyone that can rock that safe can also take on GODZILLA..., so the knives are somewhere down the line in the "Survival Chain"... :)

Michael,
I got one of those a few years ago, great for the piece of mind. Mine is bolted to a wall inside a closet.

Yea bolt it down, if someone wraped a chain around it and pulled it away with thier truck youd be screwed.
