I have been tossing around an idea for a week or so now.

I want to start a knife journal, detailing my day to day use of my knives and how they stood up to the use, and abuse, dealt to them. I don't have the entire idea mapped out yet, so for now we'll see how it pans out. I'll smooth out the rough edges as time goes on, and hopefully I'll get some input on how to better it. for now, until a moderator tells me a better place to post, I'll post replies to this thread. bear with me- its still in the embryo stages.

I'm going lobstering tomorrow, and I'm debating on which knife to bring with me. I usually carry a large dyad with micarta scales, and it will be there tomorrow, but I'm going to also bring one of these:

Spyderco Impala- Plain edge
VG-10 blade
G-10 scales
liner lock
tip down carry

Spyderco Bill Moran Featherweight- Plain edge
VG-10 blade
Zytel? with Kraton inserts
fixed blade
Kydex sheath with TEK-LOK
SOG X-42 Field Knife- Plain edge
BG-42 blade
Zytel handle scales
fixed blade
Kydex and leather sheath

I haven't decided which one's going fishing with me tomorrow, if anyone has any ideas let me know, and tune in tomorrow for the first installment of the knife journal!

A knife use log - what a good idea! Reviewing it after keeping it for a few months would be really useful for determining what sort of knife would be ideal for EDC based on what you're doing with them most of the time.

I did a similar log for motorcycling, and has steered me towards making much more sensible gear and accessory selections.

Well, due to high winds and rough seas, we did not get out this morning. However, for edc, today I am carrying:

Spyderco Cricket- VG-10 steel
plain edge reverse-s
stainless handle scales
frame lock
This is in my back right pocket.

Clipped to my right hip pocket is:

Emerson mini CQC-7a- 154CM blade
Custom thick G-10 handle scales
1/2 serrated blade
liner lock

Be sure to make the covers look "purty". This way, when the prosecutor holds it up, the jury will be impressed
with your artistic talent. :D

Just kiddin'! ;)
