Knife Junkie posts video with initial Range series impressions....

Thanks for posting this! I hadn't realized the pocket clips were different. They both look great.

That squared off 112 though... fantastic!

I think that they will be good knives and sell well.

But, they look like 50 other brand knives! I would have gotten out of the box with something more original in design.

I thought that it was funny that the first knife that he thought of was the Griptilian. I thought the same thing.

Agreed. The Griptilian and the Vantage got married and had a kid. Named him "Range."

I will still order a Range. In 2026. We have to now wait 12 months after a product's release in order to get the Pro discount from Buck. Sadly. I don't like this Pro policy update at all. Miss the old days.

Thanks for posting - looking forward to trying one.

I'm primarily a Traditional knife nut these days after a couple decades doing the modern practical tactical stuff. I have been looking for almost 8 years now for that perfect mod prac tac - large enough for me to easily use one-handed, small and light enough I don't mind slipping it in the pocket for all-day carry. Since I don't want a collection, I'm looking for just one, when I find it I'll get several copies for spares in case of loss or theft.

I've tried a lot of knives, and most that come close seem to always have one issue that knocks it out of the perfect zone. I've found I prefer crossbar, liner and mid-body lockbacks. I've found I don't like autos or assisted opening. I've found I prefer flippers, thumb studs, and thumb holes (in that order). I've found some knives almost perfect, but the shape and size of the handle allows the blade tip to just barely bite the palm when opening or closing unless I'm very careful with placement or use it as a two-handed knife. I've found knives almost perfect but the liner locks have so little purchase for my thumb they become a two-handed knife. So far, of all the modern knives I've tried, the Spyderco Native 5 and 'Lil Native SlipIt with G10 handles are the closest to perfect for me. Not fast in operation but they just work without slipping or biting skin.

Personally, I'm OK with the looks since appearance is down the list a bit on what I'm looking for. I already have a Mini Range Pro on pre-order from one of the shops I use regularly. Hopefully the shape will be correct for my hand/ fingers and I'll have another option alongside the Spyercos. Then I'll pick which I'll keep.

I have several excellent Benchmades (Mini-Rukus, 710, Grippies), so I don't really need another crossbar knife. I'd consider the Range Pro 791 with FRN grips and CM-154 steel, at the right price. Probably going to be a while before prices settle down though.

Magnacut, eh? Looks like I'm ordering both sizes/models when they drop.

Full Review
