Knife Kits?

I have some spare time on my hands and am looking for something to do to pass the time. I was looking at a knife kit as a possibility. Since this will be my first, I guess a fixed blade would be the easiest to make. How hard are these knife kits to make? What knife kit should I get? I don't really know much about knives and how they go together. Are there any good books on the subject? Is it possible to sell these kits assembled for money? What kind of tools would I need? As you can see I have a lot of questions that need to be answered. Thanks for the help.

I think you can find alot of info at www.knifekits.com
I have made 2 fixed blades but they turned out really bad.
They tell you how hard the kits are to put together and what tools you will need or you can even buy the tools from them . I wanna get the The Typhoon when i get some extra cash .I would guess you could sell them if they turn out really well . You can sell them on ebay or here on the forums . I think you need to be a gold memeber to sell on these forums . Good luck !!!!!!

It definantly helps to have the right equiptment, and fixed blades are eaisier than folders...nothing great but here is one I made from knifekits. I'm a worse photographer than knifemaker!

You can't upload pictures to Bladeforums, but you can upload them elsewhere and post them here.

I am perdy ignorant with computers, but if you have a site that hosts your pictures it is pretty easy.

There are a couple of people that I know that do a great job on these kit knives. By the time they are done these knives are as nice or nicer than most of the customs I have seen. One of these people is Jim Cooper and the other is Dennis Greenbaum. You should check out their knives on the CKD Forum.

You can make money selling these knives, but make sure that you make it very clear that what you are selling are kit knives. I have seen many of these knives for sale on ebay that are being called custom or handmade knives. This shows a total lack of ethics and is deplorable.
