Actually, speaking for the state of California, that website leaves a lot out and offers next to nothing regarding California's knife laws. There is A LOT more to California's knife laws than that website offers.
Here's my problem with a site like that, and I will use the listing for Los Angeles as my example because I know LA's knife laws very well- the explanation of LA's knife laws is very abbreviated and leaves out important facts.
While it is true that it is illegal to openly carry any knife in Los Angeles with a blade longer than three inches, that website fails to mention that there are exemptions to that length restriction. Specifically, it is legal to openly carry a knife of any length in LA if a person is carrying it for "legitimate" work or recreational purposes, or for religious purposes. If a person were to base their knowledge of LA's knife laws, and their knife choices, on what they read on that website, they might deny themselves their legal right to openly carry a knife with a blade longer than 3 inches.
Personally, I think people are better served by finding their local penal codes online (state, county, city) and actually reading what they say, rather than basing their legal knowledge on material provided on a website with absolutely no official legislative status.
I say, if you want to know the law, then read the law. Not someones interpretation or abbreviated version of the law.
