I know this is a long-shot and a half, but I'm going to bosnia and herzegovina (a country in eastern europe), in the summer, and am wondering what their laws regarding carrying knives are, or if I can take a knife or two over in my luggage? I doubt anyone will know the answer, but Ill ask anyway. Btw I HAVE googled it and no luck with info.

Thanks! :)

i doubt there is knife laws there. most people there are just trying to survive

Yes that's possibly true but I don't want to depend on it and get arrested... :)

Be sure you have cigarrets or something else to bribe and you should be fine. You can get away with almost anything, but if you should be searched and they want your knife you are out of luck unless you have something better. Don`t carry a fancy knife.

Rodogg, are you military or civilian? The reason I ask is because I'm actually in that region of the world right now so I can try to find out the specifics. Its pretty safe to say if you are military you will be good to go. As far as civilians go I haven't seen anything to say that are laws governing the carry of knives.

Civilian! Thanks for the help, as long as there isn't a strongly enforced no-knife law, then it seems like I should be fine. But maybe a cheaper knife and carrying it out of sight is also a good practice.

No worries. I asked our Terp and they said should be no problem and advised the same thing, cheap knife and don't flash it about. Have fun and stay safe.

Rodogg - i've lived in Bosnia the last *several* years and speak Croatian/Bosnian/Serbian (don't read Cyrillic though).

There are laws about knives and carrying them, but that being said you (a foreigner/stranac) probably won't have any problems.

I've just returned to the States so if you want more info about travel in/around Bosnia PM me and i'll let you know what i can.
