Im going to Taiwan soon and will be taking a knife or two of course ! I have no idea of the carry laws or how well there inforced etc. so any advice will be greatfully received. I usualy just take a short fixed blade and a folder when traveling. Like my HT or stormrider and an Emerson of some sort. What would you folks recommend taking ??

Thanks.

I wouldn't reccommend a fixed blade for normal urban EDC carrying... Though I don't know the exact Taiwanese knife laws, I have seen several knife stores selling folders. So I would assume folders are legal in Taiwan. However, just keep it discreet, because the Taiwanese doesn't exactly have a EDC knife culture.

I used to carry a Cold Steel R1 which is a Randall Model 1 copy underneath a photographer's vest. Very illegal, but not really enforced. Some camping and military goods stores will have anything you would find in the states including automatics. The police there aren't really concerned with searching anyone or crime prevention. They're there to take reports after the fact, direct traffic and give tickets.

Thanks folks,

I use my fixed blades for out door use rather than urban carry so it seems if im sencieble thigs will be cool.

I just dont want free "bord and lodging" courtesy of the Taiwanise authoritys :D

Take care.

You may check this link about knife law in Taiwan, my friend posted it few months ago.

Basically we can't carry knife to the public area without any good excuse.
But if you don't "show off" your toy/tool, it's OK no one will notice what you have. AUTOs and balisong are legal for civilian here but no double-edge knife and no sharpen katana can be have without certified paper from police department.
