I am going for a trip to Istanbul and of course would like to have some kind of folder with me. Does anyone have any knowledge about the law conserning carrying a small folding knife there?

I am soon going to have a holiday in Istanbul, Turkey. Considering knives what is there to see? The museums are supposed to be great.

Also, does anyone know what are the knife laws in Turkey, of course I would like to have a small folder like SAK with me?

I see you have posted your question about Turkey's knife laws in the "Knife Laws" sub-forum. Let's assume you'll get those answers there.
Hope you have a great vacation.

sak and such knives aren't problem in istanbul until you don't involve in any criminal situation. there are some shops and seller on the street who sell lot of knives in karaköy. modern and traditional. at beyazıt square is always a flea market. lot of knives also. and you can find good bargains there.

Some 15 years ago I spent 18 days backpacking around Turkey. Carried a locking SAK Adventurer and used it a ton. No problems at all. We had a ball and found the Turkish people to be very very warm and friendly. Great food and beer too.

Sounds like fun! I'm curious to see what the knife culture is like in Turkey... Please take lots of photos!! :)
Safe travels......

I have to be sneaky about it, because my dear wife might not be so enthusiastic about running around searching for knives :D There was a thread about a friction folder someone found in Turkey, but cant find it now.

Not Constantinople? Because if you've a date in Constantinople, she'll be waiting in Istanbul.
