Ohio knife laws are pretty much non-existant as far as I know. I believe only autos and ballistic knives are illegal. You're more likely to run into local laws. I know here in Columbus the cops are pretty lax about knives and view them as tools; unless you've lodged it in someone.
I've heard in Cleveland that any blade longer than the width of the officer's badge is illegal, but I can't back that up. I can't tell you about any other city though. Try finding your city's web page, and see if they have a version if laws and codes online.
http://orc.avv.com/ has the Ohio Revised Code online. Search for "dangerous ordinance" and "deadly weapon" and see what comes up.
Here's the key one
ORC 2923.12 (C) It is an affirmative defense to a charge under this section of carrying or having control of a weapon other than dangerous ordnance, that the actor was not otherwise prohibited by law from having the weapon, and that any of the following apply:
(1) The weapon was carried or kept ready at hand by the actor for defensive purposes, while the actor was engaged in or was going to or from the actor's lawful business or occupation, which business or occupation was of such character or was necessarily carried on in such manner or at such a time or place as to render the actor particularly susceptible to criminal attack, such as would justify a prudent person in going armed.
There is NO concelealed weapons/firearm permit in Ohio, and don't hold your breath waiting for one. If we get one, I doubt it will be savvy enough to include non-firearm weapons.
