Artie, all of the cases shown in your link are very well designed and beautifully crafted. It approaches art! Your design is perfect for the class of knives you collect, but as diverse as knife styles are I wonder if you might not be in a truly custom, designed and fitted market doing one on one commissions for a particular collector with his particular collection in mind? Your design may be flexible enough to accommodate many different styles of knives as is. It's hard to tell from just photographs.
The Blade show in Atlanta, GA this summer would be a great place to show off the items and get great feedback and probably sell a few (or a lot) of the ready made versions.
Any way it's a super idea and item, and I wish you success in further development.....and by the way Merry Christmas!

Hi Paul
Thanks for your comments... You make my heart sing.... Question: I have a patent pending on this product. The most important part of the patent is the fact that the center cushion, holding the knives, has Velcro on the back so as to be taken off and another cushion can be put on.... The portfolio carrying aspect was an afterthought.
I sold one that has 4 cushions( 34 different types of knives ) and hangs on a wall. Very impressive... Naturally any configuration of cushion(s) could be made...
I've also sold 4 of these (portfolio case product). These individuals like the product because they can open it and show the knives attractively lying flat as opposed to the knife rolls which ,although hold knives, curl up when opened. But I've decided I don't want to sell these on my own. I am not in the business of selling into this market. I am a knife collector.
I'm looking for two things. One is a company in the business to make the product. currently I am paying $185 for each one. Made by a ladies handbag manufacturer.
Next, I am looking for a relationship with this company, or perhaps, another company in the business...I am very flexible as to a financial relationship. I would like to participate in the design aspect . I have some ideas as to putting together a line of products... Incidentally, I've had interest from 3 manufacturers.Problem was that 2 of them are in Pakistan and 1 in Russia. All 3 in the leather/sheath business. Since my patent pending does not go further than the U.S and it's territories, it wasn't prudent for me to get involved with them.... I've been to a couple of knife shows and a few exhibitors thought it might be a good idea for them to carry their knives to shows. Perhaps also selling them ... Any thoughts? In any event, thanks for your response....
Happy New Year, Artie
p.s. this is a part of my knife collection
