Dear All,

I own a few Fallkniven knifes with Thermorun handle. I also own Gryphon Knife with DuPont Zytel handle.

I need help! I wonder how to oil the knife tang which was covered up with these mention material that are non-removable? Will the tang rust in time to come?

Hi Seb,
I also own Fallkniven blades and assure you that you do NOT need to worry about the hidden tang. That 440j stainless steel that they laminate over the cord steel (vg10, Cos, 3g, etc) will not rust.

Hi Cryptyc,

Thanks and nice to heard that.

The scary part is when the material deteriorate and the holding power from the grip to the tang became lose with gap (I hope not).

If salt water get inside there we cant clean.
Please advise and leaning!

Best Regards,
Seb

That material is not going to deteriorate any time soon, seriously. What I do with any new knife, stainless or not, is give it a good spray down with CLP. I figure that way any open cracks or areas get a nice oil and rust prevention soak. That way if something else ever tries to get in there then the oil will keep it from causing damage. I agree that salt water is pretty darn bad for even the toughest SS. I honestly don't think there are large gaps like you are thinking with the handle. I don't think salt water is going to make it under the scales on the thermo handled fallknivens.
