Hi, I'm making a knife in school and i want to put red liners in the handle, what materials could i use for them? Keep in mind im a high school student and i dont have access to anything "fancy" like G10. Just looking for suggestions, thanks

well if it needs to be something you have access to you'll need to check what's available locally, in hardware or industrial supply stores. Rubber maybe? linoleum? Some thin plastic that's not too brittle? Or maybe dye & polycoat some thin hard wood?
Just don't use anything that can absorb moisture or it will swell/warp over time.

I've seen folks use a colored CD case for liner material. However the correct thickness G10 can be ordered pretty inexpensively.

What is your timetable for the knife? Red vulcanized fiber, which is for making handle liners, always looks good. I may have a sheet lying around that I could send you. This is what they look like:

What I got out of this was that I'm just impressed you are allowed to make a knife in school!

You can look for just about any flat plastic type material. Look at thrift stores for lids that are flat or try craft stores for small sheets of material. Your best bet will always be a direct knifemaker supplier like Jantz or Alpha Knife Supply but if you cannot do that be creative and look at what is around you.
