I saw on the trading forums with the sale of a knife, the seller list a lockup percentage. Can you guys tell me what lockup percentage is considered optimal, acceptable, and unaccaptable? Thanks, I appreciate it.

Optimal lockup percentage is basically what the buyer personally likes. If the folder locks up solid, I personally like anything from 20%-75%. :)

I agree with these figures as well. I usually prefer mine to be locking a little early, 30% or so, for the sake of longevity. I will add that I haven’t noticed any of my knives moving after the initial break-in period, and even then the ones I did take notice of didn’t move more than 5%.

For me, on a liner or frame lock, the lock should engage 100% at the tang; that is the lock should be completely seen over the tang.

I also agree with this. The 20% lockup must be full lockbar contact with the blade tang.
