I don't know if its just a phase I am going through. But I made a two blade gents folder (Thats all I do is folders) and left my logo off the blade, put it on the inside of the liner. And the more I look at it the more I like it. My name has only five letters but somehow I feel it takes away from the blade. Seems like the eye goes right to the logo. What do you folks think can logo's take away from the blade?

I think when your eyes go to the logo first, you are doing what many folks do. Maybe that's the first thing they are looking for. And no, I don't think it takes away from the blade. Especially since the buyer already probably knows who the maker is, and they are checking to make sure who the maker is. Your mind is going to wobble between maker and shiny knife, which is positive. I've seen customers check for the logo right after picking up the knife. They probably would not want to continue the inspection nor be as interested if wanting one of your knives and not seeing the logo pretty quick. Logo is a pretty strong selling point, my nickle's worth.

I agree with John, although I don't like to over do it.

I removed the term "maker from my logo years ago, as I figure that was apparent, and I don't like a mark that's real big, or overpowering.
One thing I do believe in though, is using your name. Not a week goes by on the cutlery forums, that someone isn't trying to identify the maker of a knife that is only marked with initials, or some other mark. With rare exceptions, they are hardly ever identified.

I use my first and middle initial, last name, city and state.

The first thing I look for on a knife I think may be worth having is look for blade steel type and then origin. If all it says is what most production knives say: 'stainless', the origin becomes unimportant to me - so does the knife.

I think its important for the logo to be in sight, and appealing. I don't like big etched logos on small blades though. I think it can kind of make things too billboard like if you aren't careful. Pretty much everything I have seen here is tasteful and fits well though.
I just started carving my last name in with filework on the grip of the knife, its gotten mixed reviews but I like it. Its kind of out of the way, and won't wear off. I only squeezed an S in on the last folder I did, but I'm working on that.
I kind of feel like you should have enough pride in your work to clearly mark it as your work and take credit for it. Just don't overdo it, thats bragging ;)

if i made it, it will have my name on it! the bigger the knife the bigger the logo.
