So I've noticed that my Tenacious is not quite as smooth to open as it was when I first got it a few weeks ago. I'm 100% certain though all it needs is a little lube to solve the problem and was wondering if you guys had any recommendations? I've used WD-40 on my CKRT M16 but it seems to dry out rather quickly.

Check out tuf-glide from sentry solutions.

One drop on each side of the pivot and then work it in. It will feel gummy at first but once the carrier solvent evaporates it will be smooth as glass and protect against rust :)

Its a dry lubricant so won't attract dirt like oil does.

If you use your knife for food make sure not to get it on the blade (same goes for WD-40 I'm sure). It will leave a bad taste and probably isn't something you should be eating.

EDIT:

Clean out the WD-40 residue and whatever stuck to it before applying tuf-glide. Warm water and mild dish soap I think would do the trick, make sure you rinse and dry properly as well.

Also, just get the small bottle of tuf-glide with the applicator tip. I'm still on my first bottle and it was bought years ago.

I've also have great results with Sentry Solutions Tuf-Glide Micro-Bonding Dry Lube and Protectant. I like that it allows you to put the lube exactly where you want it and then once its dry it doesn't attract dust and dirt.

You're welcome :) Also know that WD-40 is actually made to displace water (Water Displacement, WD, AHA!) and not to lubricate.

Its a pretty good cleaner for all kinds of things though.

+1 for Tuf-Glide

Before I obtained and started using Tuf-Glide, I dug through my old yo-yo equipment and fished out my Yomega Brain Lube (the only official lube of Yomega, I believe). The stuff yields very satisfactory results and is cheaper from what I found online. I figured if professionals use this for flawless spinning in yo-yo competition, it should be fine for a folding knife.

Do you guys prefer oil to grease? I generally use a thick white grease, especially Chris Reeve Knives Flourinated Grease (Christo-Lube).

I use 3 in 1 oil. but ive tried graphite powder, didnt like it.

I think im going to pick up some tuff glide and give it a shot.

I use Breakfree CLP for all metal tools. Good stuff and you can find it at any gun store. Also called Rem Oil. Not very expensive.

Is Remington Rem Oil the same stuff? Anyone have any thoughts on the Remington Rem Oil for cleaning and lubing?

I just use cheap gun oil from Walmart. I use the end of the squirt tube to drop oil deep into the pivot area. It does attract dust, but I clean my knives frequently so it is not a problem for me.

Frog Lube is supposed to be very good. I haven't had to use any lube on any of my knives as of yet, most of them are fixed blades.

I use tri flow on my Endura. It works, although it's kind of hard to tell how well since the lock back has a really tight opening anyways.

i use the tuff-glide

i put a drop on my caly3.5 (no washers) and it was buttery smooth, that is where i saw the largest improvement

I've been using Slipstream gun lube this year to keep my folders lubed. It works better than any other lube I've tried. My hard-to-open knives all open with ease now. I love the stuff.
