Hello all,
I am a new member of BladeForums and as such, I wish to give you all a welcome gift of knowledge that I am sure you will find quite useful. In my experience as a gun collector for over 20 years I discovered the best lubricant and corrosion protectant used (and kept secret) by renowned gunsmiths. Being rather new to knife collecting, I have employed this lubricant on my knives and can confirm that it is makes their actions smoother, is not effected by temperature extremes, water, dirt/dust, is edible, and lasts for months on end. In addition, if you can find it, it is relatively inexpensive and sold in 14 oz. cans which should last you a lifetime. OK, so what is this stuff?
Lubriplate SFL-0
It is an FDA approved Aluminum based industrial product used in the food industry to lubricate their machines and protect them from corrosion. For details on its composition and where to acquire it simply Google it.
Don't spend your hard earned money on expensive knife specific lubricants that are nowhere as good - I will not name any products specifically but you know what I'm speaking of. No, I am not involved in any way with the manufacturer of this product.
Enjoy,

I use a synthetic lube and have had zero issues. It comes with a little needle size applicator for hard to reach areas like pivot points. No odor and it doesn't attract dirt and dust.

You must really love this stuff. You have only three posts, and all three of them are recommending this product.

I do like the stuff but I am new to BladeForums and this is just the beginning of what knowledge I can contribute to this community.
