Periodically I use my knives to cut fruit, cheese and sausages.
Is it ok to use Tuf Glide in the pivot area and use mineral oil on the blade?
or should I be using mineral oil on the pivot as well?

I use Tuf-Glide (from a Marine Tuf-Cloth) to protect all my blades. Have for 15 years, never had a food-related problem.

I also use ballistol on all my knives, but I do not use them for food prep.

I'm pretty sure Tuf-Glide is a mineral oil based product and will be fine around food - if you can take the aroma :-)

I've started to use FrogLube.
Little pricey but well worth it and safe around food.

Huh, I never thought about whether the lube I use on my knives; Hoppe's by the way, is safe around food. My guess not so much

Hoppe's certainly doubles as a great cologne also :)

Seriously though, Hoppe's is NOT safe for food related tools. Go with mineral oil. Cheap and works great.
