Knife made out of scrap

Hello Guys! I just sold a small knife I would like to show you. I made this knife with some scrap material:
The damascus was forged with small sections of twisted bars I had at the shop. The mammoth scales where cutted and drilled to another knife some years ago, but I ended using another pair to finish that knife...
I made the silver wire more than 10 years ago, when I made a class on basic jewellery. The copper is scrap eletrical wire from my shop.
Here's the description:
Knife with 4 1/4" blade and 8 3/4" overall length was forged in a new pattern called Squeezed Turkish, made out of O1 and 15N20. With integral construction, the bolsters where inlayed with 24K gold, sterling silver, and copper, to create a multi colored pattern with floral motif, in the style of the famous japanese sword maker Umetada Myoju, hence the name of the knife. The handle is cream mammoth scales, with dommed pins. The sheath is Water bufallo leather with elephant skin inlay.

Thank's for looking.

Cheers!

Scrap materials??? LOL, that doesn't look like scrap any more!

Beautiful work, that's a knife anyone would be proud to own.

Rodrigo,

The knife is beautiful as always, with especially nicely shaped and colored mammoth, but your inlay work on the bolsters is just magical.

John

I had a smile the whole time reading this before seeing the pic, knowing that "scrap" from you was going to be "gold". Beautiful beautiful work. As John said, the bolster work is magic.

Podrigo, Not too many people can turn "floor sweep" into something beautiful. Your gold work is really progressing. Absolutly stunning.

Very nice, Rodrigo. The scrap lying around your shop is a little different than what some of us have lying on the floor covered with dust.:D

Wow Rodrigo, that is some kind of scrap. Beautiful, love the inlay work. Another stunning piece. Diane says hello and asks how family is doing?
You are the man.
Brion

Scrap, he calls it???

Wow, very nice. You truly are a MASTER if you can turn scrap into that!

Kind regards,

Jos

Hello Guys! Thank you for the kindness. I'm addicted to recicling, and I though this small piece was a good canvas to try some improvement on my inlay. It was the first time I made lines with difference in thickness, this can be really tricky, when you need to use 3 different sizes of wire to inlay one line. The larger section of the branch was inlayed with several sections of silver wire layed side by side, and this can also be very tricky, specially when the silver is not 1000 (the softer). I still have a lot to learn on these tecniques, but I'll get there in time.
Brion, the family is good, thank you. The baby is growing fast, and seems to be a big baby. It's a boy, will be called Francisco.

Cheers!

EXCEPTIONAL work Rodrigo! Like has been said, the inlay work on the bolsters is VERY nice as is the whole knife.

The fact it was made from scraps reminds me of a pendant I made with all my scraps from a basic jewelery making class. It is a good feeling to make something nice from pieces of scrap.

Well Congratulations to you and your wife, Rodrigo and welcome to Francisco. Can't wait to meet him.
