Knife magazine availability since 9-11?

Call it a strange coincidence or what, but every single bookstore and newsstand here in town doesn't stock Blade, Tactical Knives, or Knives Illustrated anymore. At least I haven't seen any new issues up for sale since 9-11. I sure hate to think (...and do NOT get me started on this) that it was a knee-jerk sheeple reaction since knives were implicated in the whole WTC mess that folks were crying to have them yank all knife magazines from the shelves. Yet, I see new issues of the firearms magazines come in the past few days. This is not a slam on our firearms bretheren but with all the stuff happening with guns you don't see them pulling gun magazines off newsstand shelves.

Keep in mind that this could merely be a coincidence and that I am over-reacting (I hope so...) but its awfully eerie that I haven't seen any knife magazines on shelves since 9-11

What are your thoughts on this? Anyone see new issues of any/all three of the knife magazines in the past few days?

I never see any knife mags on our shelves anyway. There's only one place in town that has a good selection of different interest magazines, but they haven't carried knives except for KI from time to time. Subscriptions work for me, but that's no way to pick up the occasionally curious new guy, browsing the racks.

Let's give it a few more days, to see if it's not just a glitch in delivery schedules. Could be the same company supplies all of them -- maybe someone at that end stopped them, not in all the stores. It might be worth asking the storekeepers.

We're going to have to ban having people on board all these airplanes. People make a lot of trouble, air rage, hijacking, you know. And no more pilots -- only robot aircraft that can't be taken over. Maybe, no flying! Have these empty robot aircraft taxi from place to place along highways ...

Tell me about it! Where will it stop?? :)

I have done some probing and so far everyone who I have asked has told me the same thing "we don't have it in yet, check back next week". Maybe they know something that I don't. One store manager I asked this morning said that his supplier is screwing with him. He hasn't received current issues of several magazines and not just the knife ones...I'll continue to investigate.

Barnes and Nobel in Manhattan had Blade magazine as well as two other knife magazines on the shelfs a few days ago.

My regular news stand had issues of Blade earlier this week, but it was the September issue. They had 2 other magazines too, TK and KI.
If sheeple were going to demand the magazines be pulled, youd think they would do it at this stand first. Its in Chapel Hill, NC.

Both B&N's I've been to had their normal selection, and I'm in knee-jerk central.

I bet they sent them by robot aircraft, and they taxied down the wrong highway. Your mags are probably in Bezerkly, CA by now. You know what they'll do with them there. :D

Thanks guys. Sounds to me like some sort of delay in distribution. I find it odd that I cannot find any knife rags in the stores here.

Seems the only knee-jerk reaction here was mine :D

Dexter, it is not a knee-jerk reaction at all. If for some reason I could not find knife magazines at any store you can be darn sure I would be finding out why. I could not live without my regular fix.

Dexter:
The bookstores I go to that carry the knife magazines still have the same ones that have been there since before 9 - 11. Not every store I go to carries all three of the major knife mags...one only carries TK, a few only carry Blade, others all three.

The Folders Fantastic issue is still on the shelves, too...sometimes the special knife issues are on sale for a very long time.

I'm glad, because I would be VERY unhappy if the knee-jerk reactions of sheeple caused them to not be carried anymore.
Jim

Thanks, James. I noticed one store still has some copies of Folders Fantastic, another still has copies of Knives of Europe (man, issue came out long time ago  )

Yeah, if I found out they yanked all the knife rags because of what happened I'd go ballistic too...

Yet another data point: my local Barnes and Noble had the same selection of Blade, TK, and KI that it usually has.
