So ive been at this for a little over a year. And im just now getting comfortable with my process of work. But theres no way i could it with out all the mentoring and tips and criticism ive recieved.
But knifemaking is one of thw only professions where literally your direct competitor's will go out of their way to help you. And i just think its a really cool thing. I bug the hell outta Busto Busto and @kuraki all the time constantly asking questions.
So thank you to everyone whos freely shared their knowledge, supplies, or whatever to younger makers like myself. I cant wait to be in your shoes one day and be the one lending a helping hand

The more knifemakers we have the better it will be. We have to revive this all but forgotten craft. No matter whether you like it or not, shows like "Forged in Fire" have also helped let folks know we exist. I used to get in $#!T.... Why do you tell them everything you know? How do you think I got to where I am? No secrets... that's the secret.

I just joined the site a closeout of days ago. As such a newb I was intimidated joining here. I only have a couple knives under my belt. Already I have gotten some great tips, read some incredible conversations and gotten that welcoming feeling.

Thank you! This is an amazing community

You said it perfect here Rick. I learned everything I do from researching in forums, Google & YouTube- Watching, reading and listening to those ahead of me showcasing their craft. Not just knifemaking either. I'm a Gunsmith, build firearms, reload and a couple other crafts. EVERYTHING was learned from research online.

So I am all about complete transparency. I say to people all the time, "I'm an open book". Have had a few new guys come to me about this or that, and I hide nothing. What I know is free knowledge that I am eager to share. And the chain continues.
It's very satisfying.
