I've been making knives for several months now. They are all good to high quality. I have a lot of experience before I started making knives. I make and repair Surgical Instruments for hospitals. What my question is where do I go to start selling my knives. I have sold 7 to my hunting buddies, but i have more to sell. I am also making all my own leather sheaths. I am being trained in leatherwork by 2 master craftsmen. They have told me my work is wonderful. Do I put my knives on Ebay? Go to local gun stores? Your advice is appreciated.

Provided your not bounced for spam, I suggest getting a knife maker membership here and try selling here. This is probably the lowest cost venure for selling.

You can get some good exposure and feedback. Some makers are working with us and providing passarounds for us to try. See passaround forum for info.

Welcome to the forum, I don't think ebay is too good unless you already have a customer base that will look for it on ebay. The "individual sellers forums " here is as good place to start as any, you can also hang out in Shop talk forum and get free advice from some of the best and also from other makers just beginning. just remember, if you are serious there is no need to jump in fast head first!!!! Hang around here and check things out, good luck.........................

Hey Coop...

Welcome to the forums...

For sure start here at Bladeforums by getting a knifemakers membership.. $45.00 bucks is cheap for having the possibility of 17,000 + people look at your work, 24/7...

Go you the Knife makers sale forum and ask Jim Wade. He's been here only a short while, and has sold a couple of knives already..
Just wait til more people hear about him!!

You should also look into getting some pictures up on a website...

Welcome to Bladeforums! I'll move this thread to Shop Talk for you -- that's where the knifemakers hang out. They're a great bunch of guys....

What kind of surgical instruments do you repair, and how? I'm just courious if you actually tig weld broken scalpels or what. I've not ever heard of your field. Should go hand in hand with knifemaking I'd think.

I repair all kinds of surgical instruments. Mostly all the stainless variety. I would not weld broken scalpels, they are to cheap to just buy new ones. For welding of stainless I use a laser welder. If you don't have a good supplier for scalpels, I would recommend www.havels.com Call them and get a catalog, their assortment is wonderful.
