a thread was resently started with someone looking for help from a knife maker near him. i thought it would be a good idea to start a thread on knife makers that are willing to help people near them, that want to start making knives or knife makers that already have a class can post also.

a lot of people just maybe need to see the shop set up and maybe the basics of what they need to start out making.

i wish when i started out there was someone i knew near me to help out.

no addresses unless you dont care because like it has been stated before anyone and everyone can see this. i figure if we post the city and state you live and maybe an email people can get a hold of you and you can decide if you want to let them come over for a shop tour and maybe some tips.

maybe they just need to see how you work?

i also posted here because i figure most people will come here with guestions and if someone can help out by physicaly showing someone. that is a lot of help. :)

i do not have 20 years under my belt but maybe i would be able to help out people who are starting out :)

(state) Maryland

I have taught several new guys in my area and am always willing to share what I know. I should be back in the shop after the new year if anyone would like to stop in. My E-Mail and cell # is on my web site.

Chad thats a great idea. It would serve as an inspiration to spend an hour with someone who shares the same interest and may have more experiance. I think even if your at the same level it can benift all. Looking foward to it.

Im always willing to help/learn with new people, even if only to find out what doesn work :-)

If you put a list on tyhe original post and kep[t up with it it could be a nice sticky

Having Wally Hayes, Jeff Diotte and a few other talented makers close to me has been invaluable. I have had a few makers spend some time in the shop and have always had an "open door" policy for folks to stop by. Except the Count, Tattooedfreak, mgysgthath, Bigblue and a few other Canuckian makers..... it would be irresponsible and dangerous to have that amount of awesomeness in one place at the same time.

ETA:
Theevilmike..... I can tell by your location that you too, are awesome........ you are an unwelcomed Canuck, too.... for safety sake.:p

All of my contact info is available on my site.
