I did not manage to get to all the tables as I had to run around and try to score the knives I wanted. My apologies to those makers I missed.

Nice work Mart! Sterling effort. Now you have to tell us what you took home with you in your briefcase... ;)

Saw alot of designs I like in the 400 dollar range. Didn't notice a lot of frame locks mostly liner locks. Is that just the stuff the OP is interested in or are frame locks not much in favor with South African builders?

Nope there are not a lot of people making frame locks here, which always strikes me as quite odd, given that the inventor of the frame lock, Chris Reeve, is a South African by birth.

I think it MAY have something to do with the fact that people here seem to like knives with scales that provide lots of visual interest, ie, natural materials and frame locks dont really permit that. That's really pure speculation on my part. For all I know it could be that titanium is too expensive or not that easily available in the appropriate thickness. Its puzzling...

Buffalohump summed it up well

The market locally with regards to users and collectors align with what is mentioned above. It has a lot to do with visual appeal, however, makers do make framelocks/ integrals for other markets such as the US as well.

I was in South Africa for three week in June.
I was looking at knives from a manufacturer named
"Burger", I think.
They were nice but I didn't pull the trigger.
I wish I had of, would have been a nice souvenir.
Beautiful country and great people.
