Any knife makers in NE Ohio?
I am stepping into knife making, and would like to talk with or visit a maker in my area. I have yet to make a knife, but have been searching and reading everything I can possibly find. I have some equipment, picking up a grinder Monday from Beaumont, abrasives will be ordered this week as well. By the end of the month, I hope to have everything set up and ready to go. Equipment doesn't make a maker, it's the hands on stuff that does. I am looking for someone that would be willing to share their skills and knowledge with me.
Oddly enough, I have become enamored with slippies. I like the simplicity and the elegance of them, which is in sharp contrast to what I have carried for the last several years. I have owned exactly one in my life, when I was around seven or so, that was taken away from me after I cut the tip of my finger off. I have never owned one or carried one since. I have told myself lately to go buy one, but I would rather put something into my pocket that I have made rather than store bought. So the next slippie I will own will be of my own making.
Thank you to the forum and all its members.
