knife makers in the kansas city area

I'm not sure what your price range is, but if you are looking for an upscale knife, I would highly recommend Tim Herman.

Tim Herman lives nearby, mostly doing engraving. Jody Muller and Micheal Burch live about 3 hours South in the Springfield area. I count all of them as friends. I don't think Tim or Michael are taking orders, Jody may be but he will have a many months or longer waiting list. I think some makers may be in the St Louis area which is about 4 hours East, no names come to mind immediately. Not sure what your looking for or if the question is merely curiosity so don't know if that helped much.

There are quite a few knifemakers in the KC area. I live about 70 miles north-west of KC.

I am President of the Kansas Custom Knifemaker’s Association. We have a web site where you can find contact information for some other maker’s that live in the area. www.kansasknives.org The KCKA has just started collecting membership dues, so the “Members” page only lists the people who have sent in their dues to date. We have had about 50 makers contact us about joining the group and we are receiving new membership applications daily. The list of members will continue to get longer as people send in their applications.

You didn’t mention if you were looking for a maker to purchase a knife from, or if you were a maker looking for other knifemaker’s in the area. If you are a knifemaker, I invite you to join our association, as part of our mission is to facilitate the sharing of knifemaking skills and information between members. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in custom knives.
